What we've been up to...

Friday night: KAFP (KY Academy of Family Physicians) Resident Quiz Bowl. 2nd place. well, not the most embarassing place, considering there were only 4 teams. I can just see the old guys, "Let's plan something fun for the kids!" But we did win money, for the program.

Saturday: Phils at Reds. Of course we got there early to watch batting practice, which didn't happen because of rainy weather. I always find it hard to pay attention to baseball games, especially from the upper deck, but at least we were dry throughout. And the Phils won 2-0. In fact, they swept the series 3-0. woohoo.

Sunday: driving driving driving, from Cincy to Houma. Ugh. And my poor boo drove the whole time while I relaxed. He's a good man. Oh, and happy mother's day!

Monday: chillin' in Houma.

Tuesday so far: chillin' in Houma. We're headed to Baton Rouge tonight for Michael's art auction and then SUSHI. yummo.

I do miss the Gipper, though. I guess he's having fun on his vacation. He always does.

our first crop

Well, that's exaggerating a bit. We had our first mostly-ripe strawberry today. And it was yummy. I'm surprised that the strawberries are doing so well. I really didn't have high hopes for those.
So far the garden is doing okay. Most of the plants out in the raised beds are doing well, except the artichoke plants are dropping like flies. Our first corn sprouted recently, and the peas are starting to climb on the trellis.
I seem to be killing an awful lot of seedlings in containers this year, though. They'll sprout beautifully at first, then die off after transplanting them. I think it's a combo of not really hardening them off and too much moisture. A time or two after the rain they've really been drowned.
Sometimes the plants that thrive really surprise me.

Etch 'n Bitch

Our first official meeting was last night! I guess we can't call ourselves Stitch 'n Bitch (for several reasons), but I'll still refer to us that way.
We definitely had a great time. I think next time we should start earlier and/or maybe eat less. People were leaving my house at 10:30. Not that I mind; I'm a night owl. But I'm sure husbands were at home griping about babysitting... ha.
